It’s Honesty Time

We considered writing a fancy schmancy page with nice pictures of what our members have done and the results they’ve seen, but we’ve already done that HERE and HERE.

So we thought we need a ‘here’s us, warts and all’ page where you could read the honest responses from people that we get from our surveys.  You see, we send out a list of questions to our members periodically to try to keep ourselves accountable.

Here’s what our Bonza members REALLY think of us:

The following is a list of what people tell us when we as the question “what stands out about us/what is it that we do that keeps you coming back?”  Here’s what they told us (OVER 300 RESPONSES SO FAR – WE WILL UPDATE WITH EACH SURVEY WE SEND OUT!)

Love the circuit style in small groups, the variety of times and the friendly/non-judgemental feel of participants and
instructors.

When I can go, I have good results. When work/school life gets crazy, I can’t go as often and the parking situation becomes more frustrating. I feel guilty about not exercising and wasting the money I don’t have to waste. ) : Not surprising.

11/13/2013 1:40 PM

This has given me the best results. My butt is amazing, I’m stronger, more flexible and more motivated to stay on “the plan”. I started with the TBT in May. I probably couldn’t have jogged two miles without walking. Since Bonza, I can run 5+ miles without walking. I think running is boring, so I haven’t really figured out how long I can go, but I KNOW I am healthier than I was 6 months ago!

11/5/2013 10:28 PM

My cloths are fitting much better and in many case I have had to buy new cloths. I no long feel the need to wait for the elevator. I find I am okay parking at the back of any parking lot. I need to be active when I am not at Bonza I find I jump on the treadmill or go for a walk it’s like my body needs movement.

11/5/2013 9:14 PM

My sleep changed quite significantly once I started with Bonza – I actually sleep through the night! The days I go to Bonza I don’t move a muscle when I sleep, which is fantastic. I had a doctor quickly try to prescribe me sleep meds, but I didn’t want to rely on medication, particularly at a young age. Coincidentally, at that same time, I began working out with Bonza and all my sleep problems were long gone!

11/5/2013 3:00 PM

Beyond the weight-loss that I have experienced, I also have gained more self-confidence. I realized that I am not the only one dealing with weight issues. The instructors and other Bonza members have provided an environment that is non-judgmental and very supportive. I did not experience that with the larger workout places such as CAC.

11/5/2013 12:33 PM

I feel stronger and a bit more flexible

11/2/2013 11:45 AM

I’ve noticed weight loss, more strength and more energy. I still have some time before I hit my goals, but I definitely feel like I’ve landed on a program that works.

11/1/2013 10:51 PM

I’ve worked out for years and lost a tonne of weight before I started at Bonza. The Bonza difference is how fun it is- and how the trainers push me further than I ever imagined myself going. It’s been an amazing experience for me. I feel strong and healthy and I’m 43 for crying out loud. I’ve also weaned myself off beer (thanks for that Jamie!) and have discovered I’m sensitive to grains after doing the body transformation challenge back in January/February.

11/1/2013 8:19 PM

Surprising (and somewhat slightly frustrating) is losing inches/seeing toning happening without the scale dropping. Losing that ‘scale’ mentality is tough to do.

11/1/2013 5:13 PM

My entire life is different in every healthy way. I am simply more aware of everything from parking my car and walking a little more to every food purchase I make. I am surprised that now that I know what the better food choices are, how easy it is to make better choices.

11/1/2013 4:26 PM

More “toned”

11/1/2013 12:42 PM

I got my life back, the thing that surprised me is my fits of depression are less and I am less scared to tackle my goals.

11/1/2013 9:51 AM

I have noticed changes in my body as well as my mental state! Prior to joining Bonza I didn’t work out and now I get very upset if I can’t get out of work to get over to workout!

11/1/2013 9:18 AM

Gained strength. Got smaller/tighter, although no change in the scale.

10/31/2013 11:14 PM

Weight loss, fat loss, gained strength and flexibility, fewer aches and pains. I am better at and don’t get sore from pretty much any active thing I do – tennis, skiing, hiking, helping friends move, gardening, painting, etc. I am surprised at how long I have been able to stay consistent with what I consider to be a challenging work out and time commitment.

10/31/2013 8:11 PM

My metabolism is faster, I can eat more and not feel like a blob. The classes seem to get a big easier each week so then I have to go up in weights.

10/31/2013 5:57 PM

mostly just added strength and increased energy level. Great workouts motivate me to attend classes each week and not skip. I have become more consistent in my routine.

10/31/2013 4:30 PM

I have always been embarassed of my body, love my body now, but now I’m old and married. Still enjoy the slimmer, stronger abs and ba;anced bpdy

10/31/2013 1:06 PM

Everything. I have more confidence. I fit into a size I never fit into- ever before. My stamina is great. My belly is flat.

10/31/2013 12:41 PM

Definite visible results from the work outs in a 6 month period!

10/31/2013 12:39 PM

Used to have lower back pain that would flare up, completely gone since working out at Bonza. Clothes fit better, more energy, more focused at work.

10/31/2013 11:59 AM

Something happened to my waist (and I’m not complaining). I still need to lose a bit more but going down 4 inches is amazing!

10/31/2013 11:45 AM

Toooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many too list.

10/31/2013 11:40 AM

I am stronger than I ever thought possible. my cardio endurance has gone up. before coming here, I thought I was in cardio shape – I wasn’t.

10/31/2013 11:34 AM

I’m just making exercise a higher priority and working harder to fit it in. I’m more willing to give up other things to keep it going. I love hiking up the trail at Red Rocks to a concert without huffing and puffing.

10/31/2013 11:01 AM

I found that going gluten free was actually easier than I thought and made me feel better. I am surprised I made it through the Spartan race. That was the hardest physical thing I have done, but I made it through.

10/31/2013 10:38 AM

I notice that I can move better. And it sucks when I have not been attending or when work forces me to work longer and sit longer and eat bad because then I really notice the difference.

10/31/2013 9:56 AM

I’m surprised at my weight loss, I lost more than expected and couldn’t be happier

10/31/2013 9:55 AM

Feel better Look better

10/31/2013 9:38 AM

I pay more atten to the food i eat and do notice that i am stronger. but physcially i am not seeing changes (which i understand is my own fault)

10/31/2013 8:39 AM

I think I’m stronger and have lost some weight and maintained the loss with out really changing my diet. A baseline to go from would be nice to see improvements and work to goals.

10/31/2013 8:29 AM

Noticed continued strength and overall feeling of better well being.

10/31/2013 8:14 AM

Great body changes I look and feel better, more comfortable in clothes, pants size went down, like to wear tanks tops, more social,

10/30/2013 11:31 PM

I have gained more strength and stamina than I expected, and have found I’m capable of things I didn’t think I could be.

10/30/2013 11:25 PM

Where do I start?? OK, so I have no idea of the exact, measurable improvements b/c….well, it just did not get measured. And it does not really matter. Because, for me, the point was not to get stronger or more flexible or skinnier or….whatever. The point was the lifestyle change and that has happened surprisingly easy. Working out is one of my TOP priorities nowadays and it is thanks to Bonza’s infectious belief that working out is just….normal. I have a feeling like I belong to a club of ‘smart kids’ who have figured it all out!! Whoo-hoo!! Like a secret society of people who gather under the cloak of darkness, in downtown Denver to……excercise?? It’s awesome!! lol

10/30/2013 10:50 PM

Even though I have never been sore from a Bonza workout I have noticed my running stamina has increase greatly!

10/30/2013 10:03 PM

More strength and energy.

10/30/2013 9:35 PM

When I first started, I didn’t expect much change… But I worked really hard and saw a lot of great improvement! Now that I have been doing it for a while, a little bit of my motivation has lost but I still keep going and I’ve maintained even though I’ve hit a bit of a plateau. But the bigger change that I was surprised by was my greater interest in nutrition, and alternative health lifestyle and making sure that I take care of myself mind body soul which was not something that I expected to change about myself by joining a gym…

10/30/2013 9:32 PM

I think mostly my attitude has changed. Bonza is a very positive place. I trust my fellow classmates and enjoy spending time with them in and outside of bonza. They keep me in line and remind me to be kind when my body image issues creep up or when the negative self talk gets too bad. I may not be skinnier (damnit), but I am happier and stronger!

10/30/2013 9:24 PM

My body always reacts immediately to bonza. I can feel like a blob because I ate too much junk food and haven’t exercised in awhile but even that first class back I can feel my body responding

10/30/2013 9:07 PM

I love the workouts– but sometimes I have meetings or something comes up and I can’t get over. I am definitely stronger, but I haven’t lost as much weight as I hoped

10/30/2013 9:07 PM

I have noticed upper body strength

10/30/2013 8:42 PM

Mindset. Instructors are great. Each of them is a personality with different ideas and routines.

6/2/2013 8:59 PM

Positive fun instructors, unique challenging workouts

5/31/2013 3:54 PM

Instructors, especially Jamie!! Location. I really like that all the instructors do lots of expaling about why, how, etc regarding excercises and workouts.

honesty

5/30/2013 6:45 PM

I like the variation of instructors so we really never do the same thing twice. I’m easily bored so that is important.

5/29/2013 11:41 AM

Instructor wise – Rebecca Swenson rocks! She is just so great at what she does, her class is hard and contains a lot of cardio blasts. It would be a sad day if she ever left. I’ve taken a few of Myriah’s lunch classes too and she is great as well. She is great at keeping us moving and the flow of class at a very good pace-I like that. The reason I come is of course the instructors and the members. Everyone is so different yet we are there for the same reason – to be fit. And for me I want to stay fit. When I look good I feel good and I’d like to keep it that way. I feel at home at Bonza.

5/29/2013 11:11 AM

I love the instructors (have worked with Geoff, Monica, Mariah, Jamie) and the workouts. Even though they are tough, I always leave feeling great! I like the food plan, its easier than I was dreading…I do miss cheese and chocolate but I don’t feel like I am missing out on anything.

5/29/2013 10:25 AM

The workouts…the instructors, knowing that if I have a question about the how or why of something I can get a Real answer, not just fluff. Bonza is a safe place to workout, learn (be it with nutrition or workouts or things that can be done on my own time ie running/walking/strength training) and have fun. The having fun part plays a huge part in why I’m still coming around.

5/29/2013 9:20 AM

the never boring workouts. in my 8 months, not one has been the same. this is due to the great instructors, (Erin, Geof, Myriah,Lindsey etc.). they have me doing things I never thought I could, and make me laugh while doing it. what’s not to love about that?

5/28/2013 9:57 PM

The instructors, some better than others, but the variety that each insturctor brings to the workout. Didn’t mind the strentgh or the endurance months, but for some reason the flexible classes seems to make it tought for the instructors to gage their time, and leave out the cooling down or stretching exercises. For me that is just as important as the workout itself.

5/28/2013 4:56 PM

The instructors are awesome. They are involved, watchful, caring and energetic making the class very enjoyable and wanting me to come back for more! The workouts are challenging and yet when my knee starts to really bother me, the instructors always have a modification so I can keep on going. The atmosphere and feeling that I have felt is that everyone wants me to succeed in meeting my goals. It has been a long time since I have been excited about working out.

5/28/2013 9:45 AM

Most of the instructors rock! I like that Bonza isn’t competitive and is more about being healthy than doing the latest get fit trick. I like the feeling of community.

5/28/2013 9:17 AM

I really like Myriah, both Rebecca’s, Mark, and Erin as instructors. I like the classes and times offered and especially WOMBAT to mix it up.

honest not perfect

5/28/2013 8:25 AM

I really enjoy Rebecca’s 11:15 Wombat class as I know what to expect – a challenging workout. I enjoy going to Geoff’s classes because he’s positive, has incredible workouts, and makes class fun.

5/28/2013 8:21 AM

I love the small group workouts. I think the seven week challenge at red rocks challenge groups are just a tad too big.

5/27/2013 11:18 PM

The instructors are very encouraging and Jamie is awesome. I do not feel pressured if I am not keeping up with others.

5/27/2013 3:51 PM

Love the attitude of the instructors. Great workouts.

5/27/2013 3:12 PM

I love most of the instructors. I love the variety of workout that I get. I love the attention that the instructors and Jamie gives to everyone. I love that I can get help modifying exercises to help with my injuries. I love that I have access to a wealth of information and a wonderful PT person (why cheaper than going to the dr~!). Bonza offers a lot that most gyms etc just can’t touch.

5/27/2013 12:23 AM

More my mindset to do something different than I have before.

5/27/2013 7:21 AM

I enjoy most of the instructors, I think they are all friendly, upbeat and generally push people to their individual limits. I also enjoy the workouts but really appreciate variety so as much as that can be infused is appreciated. I also like working out around others that push me as I am respond to a competitive motivation.

5/26/2013 10:07 AM

-Distance from my house. -Sometimes I feel there is a sort of in crowd that is very familiar with the instructors, you have to work to be a part of it (this is not true of all of the instructors just some). I am sure it really just comes down to how long some people have been members, it is just an observation.. Right now I am on a 3 month deal. After that, cost will be something that will keep me from coming back. I think the price is great for what you offer, it is just a lot for me, a homeschooling mom with a part time job to help with expenses around the house.

5/26/2013 7:19 AM

I like the ‘wholesome’ approach — it’s not all about workouts, it is the nutrition that makes a major difference too. Everyone is pretty awesome, but of course Jamie’s wit, sense of humor, and personable approach helps a lot and makes one feel like a part of something greater than just ‘going to the gym’.

5/25/2013 11:22 PM

Although the workouts are challenging, they are do-able on many levels, and I really appreciate that you make it fun. That all the instructors are funny and light, not drill instructors.

5/25/2013 10:59 PM

This is my first experience so right now I would come back because of the work outs and foods information I’ve learned

honesty sanity

5/25/2013 9:13 AM

Jamie takes a personal interest in each one of the clients. He’s just as invested in them as we are in us. He cares and goes beyond to make sure we are all happy.

5/25/2013 8:26 AM

All of what you have listed. For me right now, the classes are very new and I have never taken/experience fitness like this. I

5/25/2013 6:03 AM

Your instructors are balance, non-judgmental & patient. They work with everyone at their own level. They are calm and don’t scream at the group & make you feel stupid or pathetic as a means of motivating the group. You have a good balance between motivating & working with people where they are at in the process of improving their personal fitness levels.

5/25/2013 3:07 AM

I’ve paid for the classes, and I want to improve my fitness. Sometimes they can feel a little disorganized.

5/24/2013 9:42 PM

I really love working out at red rocks. I try to avoid indoor workouts whenever I can and red rocks is really the perfect setting. However, anything outside is great by me!

5/24/2013 8:13 PM

I like all the trainers and find them supportive regardless of the member’s athleticism. It has felt like a family and I love that most about Bonza.

5/24/2013 8:11 PM

I keep coming back because I am seeing results. The workouts push you to go a bit farther each time and just when I don’t think I can….I realize I’ve already done it. The meal plan recommendations are simple. I’m a mom with 4 kids and also work a full time job. I don’t have time to measure food on a scale or the extra $$ to shift to extravagant meal plans. The simplicity gives my mind the much needed break. Bonza makes exercise and food desirable and doable.

5/24/2013 7:42 PM

The WeighInAndOutCreatesASelfccountability ThatILike

5/24/2013 7:15 PM

Your location and expense. Location really is the main issue. We are in Evergreen so it is hard to get to your facility.

5/24/2013 7:10 PM

I love the workout, the instructors, the culture, nobody takes themselves too seriously. The goal is to have fun, get the workout in and get on with your life.

5/24/2013 6:05 PM

Monica!!!!!!!!!! Well Everyone is awesome, Monica just puts a pep in my step!

5/24/2013 5:20 PM

Most definitely the workouts and trainers equally. I love the workouts I always can’t wait to come back. I really enjoy the trainers Monica Nd Geoff.

5/24/2013 5:10 PM

The instructors (Monica and Geoff) make it VERY rewarding and challenging to come back. Their drive pushes me!

5/24/2013 5:10 PM

I like the workouts and the instructors. I am new to group exercise and didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I have. I also like that there are a variety of classes to choose from

5/24/2013 5:05 PM

I really like the workouts — I feel like I actually worked out! The instructors are awesome; they’re not intimidating and I like their enthusiasm and approachability. And I’m seeing results, can’t argue with that.

5/22/2013 9:59 AM

I appreciate the diversity of the classes – they always are different but equally challenging. For me, I think the thing that really keeps me coming back is the welcoming attitude of instructors and members alike. Hearing that we are all different and are working at different levels is reassuring to hear – I can honor where I am at, challenging myself but not killing myself for a good workout.

5/21/2013 9:42 AM

I enjoy the instructors and workouts. Bonza has helped my back issues a great deal.

5/20/2013 10:18 PM

Instructors and workouts. Or just overall atmosphere!

5/20/2013 4:44 PM

Location, insturctors and the class times (lunch time)

5/20/2013 3:14 PM

What keeps me coming back are the Amazing Instructors. When I first came to Bonza I was scared out of my mind and thought there is no way I can do this. But then I met Jamie and Erin not only did they show me I can do this, they also believe in me. They push me, encourage me and acknowledge my growth and that feels really good. Although I mentioned Erin and Jamie, I really do love all the instructors I have worked out with and feel comfortable with them all.

5/20/2013 2:50 PM

I like the instructors who make the workouts feel like play rather than work (even though we are really working hard!!) I like that every workout is different and never boring.

5/20/2013 1:30 PM

The primary reason I keep coming back is the results I’ve gotten. Jamie’s diet has worked so well of me and I’m in the best shape of my life, running further than I’ve ever run, etc. I feel great. I also really enjoy the instructors, I especially enjoy working out with Rebecca Swenson, Geoff, and Erin. Rebecca and Geoff both make things challenging, yet keep it fun and motivating. Erin has such great energy and focuses on making sure the movements are right. I wish these three taught more classes. I love the WOMBAT and core off the floor. It’s nice to switch it up a bit and sprinkle those in with regular bootcamps.

5/20/2013 10:23 AM

The instructors and hard workouts

5/20/2013 9:11 AM

The instructors are amazing!! Also the workouts. I have never had results like this.

5/20/2013 8:48 AM

Mixing up the workouts, I love always getting something new. I really like it when the instructors push you hard, I am not a big chatter so I like those instructors who push you hard and get the job done.

5/20/2013 8:29 AM

All of the above! I love each and every instructor, the workouts make me feel great, the other members are awesome. It’s obvious the trainers know their sh*t, and I appreciate the help with form, encouragement to finish a workout, and the variety of the workouts. I’m also one who tends to get burned out after 6 months at a gym, but Bonza keeps it fresh and different and I don’t see it happening here.

5/20/2013 7:50 AM

I don’t know the individual instructors well enough yet to single anyone out, but all have been very encouraging and helpful. I especially like the individual attention they all give to make sure my form is correct, and they don’t get frustrated with me or embarass me when I get it wrong — I am not an athlete and have PTSD from grade-school PE 😉 so this is important to me. I feel that Bonza Bodies is there to encourage physical fitness for everyone, and that the instructors truly want me to succeed. I have a lot of respect for Jamie Atlas who has extended this wonderful attitude into the community beyond Bonza Bodies as well in such an enthusiastic and inspiring way.

5/18/2013 9:57 PM

The instructors and other memebers are my number #1. I also agree with the methods behind why we do the exercises we do. I feel like I am building strength that can be used once I leave the gym. For example, my dancing has improved since joining Bonza. I am more balanced and able to engage the correct muscels for moves.

5/17/2013 9:26 AM

Instructors, workouts, how fun it is, and how I feel afterwards.

5/17/2013 8:30 AM

Red Rocks. Care, concern, knowledge, and positive motivation from the team.

5/16/2013 8:38 PM

I love the variety of the workouts, and that because the instructors remember my particular problem areas they automatically modify my activity as needed or compliment me when I automatically make the adjustment on my own – I normally don’t have lasting pain after the classes. Most of the instructors I have had in the last 6 weeks have been enouraging, motivating, vocal and organized. This is important to me when I am there as it is generally early and I need that extra push to get going.

5/16/2013 5:13 PM

I like the instructors, I love the workouts, I like the convenience (I work in the building) Mid-day workouts are the best. the knowledge of the staff is kick ass

5/16/2013 4:54 PM

I love all the workouts, and the quick results

5/16/2013 3:57 PM

I love just about everything about Bonza, but what I love the most is how it’s not about who has the hottest bod, it’s about fitness and health- because fitness and health comes in all body types. There is not a single wanker (excuse the French!) at Bonza. It’s got a great vibe. Everyone is made to feel welcome. I love the variety of instructors- they’re all terrific. Rebecca Luntz (sp?) is fantastic- a total pocket rocket. She has a real passion for her job and it shows in her classes. I like how she explains each exercise thoroughly. Rebecca Swenson’s classes are awesome- she pushes me past the pain barrier beyond what I thought I could do! Erin’s class is one of my faves- she’s such a happy chick and encourages everyone.

5/16/2013 3:54 PM

I enjoy working out with the instructors – they’re all very welcoming and enthusiastic about the workouts. I also like the variation each time I come to class – I think that keeps it engaging and helps it avoid becoming the ‘same ol’ same ol’ workout.’

I come to Bonza somewhat out of force of habit (i know Jamie, I know the exercises, etc.), but I also like the small group
workout format, I like the equipment, the length of the class, and I like that is a warm, friendly environment — i am not an
anonymous participant like i would be at a class at a big gym…
Tuesday, May 15th

I really enjoy the variety of exercises and equipment usage. I also very much enjoy the group atmosphere as it makes the
workouts more enjoyable.
Tuesday, May 15th
12:26PM

For me the special thing about Bonza is the small group workout sessions and trainer/client relationship. This, I believes,
allows for the trainers to understand my injuries and my goals. I was feel welcome to ask for advice and opinions, and this
reassures that I’m doing the right thing.

I like the challenge and motivation. It’s a tough workout but one that you feel good about because the classes are fun,
instructors are supportive, other participants are friendly and you don’t feel out of place. Makes me motivated to keep
coming back knowing that whatever level I’m at – I can still do the workout.

The “just right” push you to the brink in class. All classes make you feel like you’ve had a well-rounded workout. But that
only works if you like the person pushing you to get there (the trainer). Which is why Jamie has the special sauce.

I originally saw more results in Bonza from an hour workout than I was getting training 2.5-3 hours/day!

I personally love the ‘convenience’ of Bonza. I also enjoy the opportunity bonza offers for a FULL body workout. I originally
came to Bonza thinking it would be MORE of a personal ‘goal based’ program. Sadly, im actually not getting that from this
program, but still mostly enjoy the workouts.

I think the bootcamp style with stations targeted at different muscles groups for maximum calorie and fat burn makes the
classes go by fast and I just feel great after the workout.

How good I feel physically. I enjoy that there isn’t an instructor telling me to kill myself. Small class size.

Everything is so personalized geared to everyone’s own ability. I also love that each class is completely different from the
